Pennant Hills Photographic Club Inc.

Based in Pennant Hills, a suburb of Sydney, NSW Australia

A member of the Federation of Camera Clubs (NSW) Incorporated

We are a camera club of over 50 members (on an average year) with a program that runs from the first Monday in February to the first Monday in December each year and meeting on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 8pm. The room is usually open from 7:30pm. An occasional Monday may get skipped due to Public Holidays so please always check the program before deciding to visit. For 2006, the occasional 5th Monday is an evening outing somewhere for some night photography or a visit to a place of photographic interest.

How to find us.
Look at the map and find the church on the corner of Bellamy St. Parking is on a grassed block of land opposite the church in Bellamy St (at the corner with Boundary Rd, entrance is in Bellamy St), and the entrance we use is facing Bellamy St. The map below shows the position near the centre. The grey road at the bottom is Pennant Hills Road. The entrance to the Hall is in Bellamy St about where the 'E' is in 'Bellamy'.

For parking, coming from either direction along Boundary Rd - turn into Bellamy  St and then within 20 metres or so, turn into the entrance to the grassed parking area on the left (the blue P on the map). Sometimes the traffic is heavy on Bellamy, so please use the pedestrian crossing at the lights. Coming from the north along Bellamy it may be easier to park in the side road Malahide, just before the church. There is very limited parking beside the Hall on the church premises and will only be used for disabled people, unloading/loading goods and possibly for the visiting judges and lecturers. NEVER park on the grass in the church premises. By arrangement, wheelchair access can be organised with convenient parking near the appropriate door.

Our club has competitions each month in Colour Prints, Monochrome Prints, Small Prints and Slides. The points awarded at each competition by a visiting judge are totalled at the end of the year and trophies are given out. There are some other special competitions with trophies that also occur, but the main aim is to learn the art and science of photography though a program of friendly competitions with varied topics and lectures and classes provided by visiting lecturers or by club members.

The other meeting each month is usually a visiting lecturer on some photography related topic. The program below shows the subjects for 2006.

Membership cost for the calendar year is $55, pensioners and students under 18 pay $45. Only financial members can be in the monthly competitions.

A few day trips throughout the year are organised to get us out and about and mix some more away from the meeting room and to obtain those various shots we may need for the year's competitions. Sometimes we also manage a weekend away to some venue within about 2 hours drive from Sydney. In the past we have been to Jenolan Cabins, Megalong Valley and apartments in Canberra (when we wanted a slightly longer drive). We may combine with another camera club or join one of their weekends away to make sufficient numbers for a booking.
